As a blunt common sense kind of person I have a lot of easy solutions to societal problems. I am a firm believer in personal rights and personal responsibility. I don't have much respect for people who don't have a sense of honor. Consequentially the below list is guaranteed to irritate a lot of people.
- AIDS: Stop sleeping around. If people aren't screwing around then it can't spread very well.
- STDs: Same solution as above. Stop sleeping around.
- Rape: Zero tolerance. Cut their dicks off. If they repeat, kill them. Note that this will only stop male rapists but that's the majority of the problem anyway.
- Teen pregnancy: Go with oral sex, manual stimulation, or use the backdoor. Not many people get pregnant from those activities.
- Same sex marriages: Get the government out of the business of sanctioning marriages. If it is for tax or legal purposes then it should be a civil union, not a marriage. That way people can pick whatever religion they want that allows them to get married to whoever they want. It isn't like it is society's business who somebody chooses to spend their life with.
- Divorce: Require a one year waiting period between a marriage application and when a couple can actually get married. An accounting of assets before the union should be tallied and in the case of divorce should be split according to the percentage of ownership before the union. In the case of marital infidelity or spousal abuse then the offending party should be punished since this would constitute a violation of their word with regards to their vows. If both parties are guilty then the punitive damages should be collected by the government since neither party deserves them.
- Lawsuits: There should be distinct limitations placed on the amount spent on a lawsuit based on the income and worth of the poorer of the plaintiff and defendant. Additionally, both parties' court costs should be paid by the loser. These changes would do a lot to make the legal system more fair and provide a true cost for frivolous lawsuits.
- Welfare: If a person has kids and can't manage to get themselves off welfare and get a job their children should become wards of the state. A perpetual welfare parent is not a good parental role model. If and when the parent can show consistent employment then they may have their children returned to them if they so desire.
- Mad cow disease: Stop feeding animal parts to other animals. If it isn't a carnivore it shouldn't be eating other animals. Herbivores eating flesh is kind of a disgusting concept. Pigs are actually omnivores but it still doesn't seem like a particularly good idea to be feeding offal, and other random animal parts to a food animal.
- Drug usage: Let people have as many drugs as they want. Make them cheap and allow farmers to grow them. But punish the hell out of anyone who violates the law while under the influence and who commits crimes to finance their habit. Same should go for alcohol. Things like driving under the influence should result in mandatory 10 year prison sentences for a first offense. There's no difference between driving drunk and playing russian roulette where you point the gun at another person. It should be pre-meditated attempted manslaughter.
- Smokers' rights: Invent cigarettes that don't generate a stink that non-smokers have to deal with. Otherwise isolate smokers when they want to smoke. I'm not generating any offensive odors that cause cancer. Smokers shouldn't be doing so either.
What it really amounts to is that I just don't get what the hell most people are thinking. I will readily admit I am about half crazy and don't see things the same way as other people do. I think I do raise some valid points nonetheless.
I'm single but suprisingly I manage to keep my dick in my pants and not stick it in random people as I wander through life. There's more to life than getting laid. Also, isn't there such a thing as contraceptive devices that provide a physical barrier? If having sex with multiple partners is part of your life then why the hell wouldn't you get each partner tested regularly or use said contraceptive devices?
Additionally my opinion is that if you give your word then you should keep it. If you aren't serious about it then don't make that sort of commitment. In most cultures marriage historically is a lifetime kind of thing.
