For some reason today I actually managed to come up with a logo design for The Grey. After I got home I booted up the graphics computer and started Photoshop. (Actually the graphics computer had been booted for the last three days, and I hadn't noticed.) Image my suprise when I couldn't find a tool for generating circles, just ellipses. Then I couldn't find a tool for creating curves. So I closed up Photoshop and opened Illustrator. Couldn't find the right tools there either. Next I launched Painter. That tool doesn't appear to have what I need either.
I know at some point in the past I had a program that allowed me to create any kind of primitive shape I wanted from a straight line, to curve, to circle, to whatever. What the heck tool was it? Why don't I have it now? I launched both Photoshop 6 and Photoshop CS looking for what I remember. Maybe it was in Freehand that I had an illegal copy of years ago? Maybe it was in Deluxe Paint 2 Enhanced back in the Windows 3.1 days? I don't think it was in Photoshop 4. I threw that away when I bought 6.0.
It is most annoying. I actually have an idea. I know just how to do it with the tool I remember. But I no longer seem to own that tool. Now I'll have to do something far more painful to get what I want. And I'm sure as hell not going to use the Gimp. That is a tremendously annoying piece of software. I can't stand its UI.
