Over the last few years organically grown food has become quite popular and trendy. Nowadays it isn't just food for hippies and vegans, but is instead something the trendy shopper looks for when buying groceries. Unfortunately with this upswing in popularity has come a new level of stupidity and ignorance.

Most organically grown food is now labeled as 'organic.' Of course it is organic, as is all genetically modified, hormone injected, pesticide protected, or chemically fertilized food products. About the only inorganic food products out there are things like salt or baking soda. Even the USDA is in on the stupidity. Here is their guidelines on the various categories of 'organic' labeling of food.

It is as bad as the whole 'natural' labeling thing. There are no regulations with regards to what entails a natural food product so pretty much anything can be labeled as such. I think I'll start a dairy with hormone injected beef raised on genetically modified corn grown in a nutrient bath and sprayed down with pesticides so it grows up nice and strong. Then I'll label the milk as natural and organic. What could be more natural or organic than juice squeezed out of a cow? It isn't unnatural unless demons have infested the cow or something. It isn't inorganic because it is still composed of water, proteins, vitamins, and the other things you'd expect to be present in baby sustenance.
