I haven't been logged on much lately. First off, it is summer time. That means I don't much care for sitting at my computer while my room temperature slowly increases to the point where my blood literally begins to evaporate. I don't even turn on the Windows machine very often anymore. All I use it for is gaming, scanning, and Photoshop/Painter. If I am going to log into a game it is now a conscious decision to boot the box up, hit the kvm switch, and actually log in. That means impulsive gaming is a thing of the past. Even when I do fire up the Windows machine I've more frequently been firing up Morrowind or Neverwinter Nights lately. These are a couple of pretty darn good games.
I did log on a bit here last week or so though. I finally found a decent soloing spot for my 35th level rogue. Warsliks Woods is pretty darn nice for a low to mid 30s melee character to solo. Enemies don't hit as hard as some other places, and there's enough space to keep too many additional enemies from trying to help out. There's also the plus of loot here which doesn't suck. For the first time ever in thegame I've managed to solo myself a piece of armor which is level appropriate. I am now the proud owner of a Bracer of Scavenging after killing off the Iksar Bandit Lord who had it as loot. Amazingly enough it was a pretty easy kill which only took me down to about 70% life. It was a decent hunting spot so I proceeded to stay there and kill the Lord a couple of other times along with many other Iksars. Unfortunately the bracer is lore which means I can only have one of them.
Eventually I got tired of killing Iksars and moved on to giants. Theoretically these guys will drop good stuff on rare occasions. I've got a few platinum, and some experience but no good loot yet. There is something to be said for killing something 4 times taller than you are though. Did I mention how great this zone is? I think the most people I've ever seen in the zone is eight. That means nobody is bothering me when I'm fighting. It also means there's no competition for whatever I choose to hunt. I'll be sad when I finish level 35 because most everything will be green/ light-blue to me next level which means there won't be a point in hunting here anymore. Of course at my current rate I'll be totally bored of killing giants and iksar long before I level up. I just don't have the patience to waste lots of time playing EQ right now.
Awhile ago I purchased a second EQ account. With the help of G I quickly leveled a druid up to level 20. My plan was to level up to 29 and start teleporting people around for cash. I ran out of patience leveling though before I got to 29. Powerleveling is ok but really boring for the person who is leveling you up. Your skills also get really screwed up because you aren't using all of them. I have to have someone else do the powerleveling because my rogue isn't exactly useful for leveling up anyone else. The last few times I logged on the druid I actually teamed up with my ranger. Since I was in N Karana I've been mostly killing blue griffs. A pair of characters killing blues doesn't exactly level quickly. This is especially true when you are fighing something that hits really hard like griffs do. Now that I think about it I think the druid is actually still level 19. Anyway, just figured I'd mention that I broke down and got that second account. Nothing like chucking an extra $120 per year or so.
